New gambling regulations in Ukraine limit operators' bonus campaigns

Ukraine's Gambling and Lottery Regulatory Commission (GRAIL) has published the country's first responsible gambling regulations. The regulations strictly regulate a number of aspects of local gambling operators.

The rules define responsible gambling entertainment allslotsonline.casino provisions for companies within the new market after Ukraine passed a bill to legalise a wide range of gambling verticals last year.

Among the regulations adopted is a severe restriction on bonuses for existing players. Thus, according to the document, operators "are obliged to refrain from providing players with any bonus payments and/or rewards in goods, services as incentives, the provision of which is directly or indirectly related to customer losses in a particular game".

In other words, from now on gambling companies will not be able to offer or give a bonus to their visitors because they have lost money in the process of entertainment. In addition, all players should have the ability to exclude and set their own deposit limits. Users should also be allowed to account for the amount of time they have spent at the gaming tables or slot machines.

KRAIL also requires all operators operating within the Ukrainian jurisdiction to train their staff to recognise the possible signs of gambling addiction in a particular casino or betting shop customer.

However, the development of the legal gambling industry in Ukraine is hampered by problems in the Tax Code. In February this year the legislative committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine put to vote draft law 2713-d, which sets the tax rates at 10% of gross revenue for all verticals of this business. However, parliamentarians have not yet voted for this initiative.
