    i remember leaving this show and heading towards colorado there were rumors that the dead were going to play red rocks. somewhere on i-80 we stopped at a truck stop. i ran into some kids i new from the east coast doing the same thing. we made a phone call and thats when we found out about brent. the next hour was talksabout what is going to happen with hte band and our futures.nobody was ready to go home and get a job.i dont want to sound so selfish we were all distraught about brent. i do remember looking at him at the show and he just looked tired.dark eyes and all,i remember thinking he was probebly ready to end the tour.it had been a long hall.brent is my favorite years with the dead being “an in the darker” .he brought struggle and freedom together for us, and asked us for “just a little light” peace love and funny colors
