A scarce handbill created by one of the founding members of the Original Charlatans, George Hunter for the LEMAR (Legalize Marijuana) Benefit Ball to Aid the End of Marijuana Prohibition.
Well after all those years we’re almost there! This concert took place at the California Hall here in San Francisco 50 (WoWzer) years ago on this day back in 1966.
On the bill was the Grateful Dead along with The Amazing Charlatans. Tickets, a mere $2 bucks at the door. Light show provided by Ted Ball. On the banner at the top reads, “What fools these mortals be”, which is a quote from William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummers Night Dream”….. A favorite handbill of mine that hangs in my home!
