Phil Lesh returned to the stage, playing music with his son Grahame Lesh, and frequent collaborator, Stu Allen. This was Phil’s first public appearance since end of Summer 2019, when he had to cancel some local shows, as well as shows on the east coast and other tour dates, due to his needing to get some minor back surgery. After recuperation and rest, Phil is back in the game!
While there is nothing on Phil’s schedule (that we know of right now) until Summer 2020, when his 80th year is being celebrated all weekend long as the theme of this years Lockn’ Festival (http://www.locknfestival.com/), now that we’ve had a taste, hopes are high Phil will begin doing a few sets here and there, before Lockn’! And a lot of people on the east coast still have their Phil-O-Ween tickets, and are awaiting the rescheduled dates.
Hopefully we’ll hear more Phil soon! He seemed thrilled to be able to play a few songs and see all of us. I saw him almost get choked up a few times. (I know I did. )
The party opened with a Train- themed set by Solo Rio, led through their 1st song, a rousing sing-along of Wagon Wheel, by our local U.S. Representative Jared Huffman (https://huffman.house.gov/ ), who was also on hand for the ribbon cutting at the Train Station earlier.
And of course, a Congressman from San Rafael rocks the guitar and knows all the words to The Weight, which he closed out Phil’s set with. I like that my Rep Rocks!
Huffman And Phriends’s summer tour date rumors are in the air…. 😉
The Capitol Theatre announces that the Phil Lesh & Friends shows scheduled for October 31, November 1, and November 2, have been postponed due to Phil’s recovery from a recent back surgery. Phil’s surgery was a success and we are working with Phil to reschedule the shows and will announce new dates as soon as we can. Tickets purchased for the three postponed shows will be honored sequentially for the corresponding new dates, once confirmed. No ticket exchanges will be required, so hang onto your tickets!
