Jerry Garcia – vocals, guitar, pedal steel
Phil Lesh – bass
* Jerry Barnett – drums (Shiva’s Headband)
Mary Egan – fiddle (Greazy Wheels)
Benny Thurman – fiddle (13th Floor Elevator bassist)
* The drummer is often listed as Bill Kreutzman from the Dead, but apparently he didn’t play: “Though he was in attendance that evening, there is no verifiable evidence that Bill Kreutzmann sat in with the band. When asked a few years ago, the owner of the Armadillo seemed to recall Bill feeling sick that night.”

*TOO notes: happycat and Bob occasionally have banter about how to setlist this song, happycat prefers the details here. We can debate what Quodlibet actually is…
Another beautiful late afternoon on the canal in San Rafael, listening to Phil Lesh dropping bass bombs. Today was extra special, as is usually the case when Stu Allen brings the lightning to Phil’s thunder.
A gorgeous Reuben and Cerise to open, Alex Koford then sang Street People by Bobby Charles. Scott Guberman gave us a smoking hot Watchtower which got the audience primed for a complete suite mind blowing That’s It for the Other! Stu Allen took the Cryptical lyrics, and then Phil Lesh crushed it on The Other One (The Faster We Go…) delivering his bass bombs and a very spirited vocal performance. Phil’s been in great form and energy recently, and his youthful vigor was on full display.
Closing the set, a beautiful Stella Blue, with Koford on vocals, and Stu taking us out of this world on the guitar.
Another Songs To Phil The Air is scheduled for today Friday October 12th, at 5pm, free, at Terrapin Crossroads!
